Flowing: A Harmonious Blend of Tradition and Modernity

Designers Peter Cheng and Sam Tsai Redefine Luxury with Natural Elements

Flowing is a unique residential design that stands out for its extensive use of marble. The stone texture enriches the wall surface, creating a rough texture atmosphere that is both luxurious and inviting. The designers have paired the marble with rust tiles, adding another layer of depth to the design. The result is a space that is rich in texture and oozes sophistication.

One of the key features of Flowing is the arc edge ceiling that is smoothly combined with the marble wall face. This fusion of artificial and natural elements is a hallmark of Peter Cheng and Sam Tsai's design philosophy. They have also used a lot of brown mirrors with copper metal trim to create a rich layered wall, further enhancing the luxurious feel of the space.

The designers have used a variety of materials to bring their vision to life. These include rust tile floor, veneer, metal, marble, brown mirror, and wood floor. The technical specifications of the design are Width 9m x Depth 15m x Height 3m.

The project was completed in May 2018 in Taipei city, Taiwan. The designers faced several challenges during the design process, including how to connect the marble perfectly and extend the special texture of the marble from the beginning to the end. They also had to figure out how to use rounded corners to the corners, which required stacking the marbles before cutting.

Despite these challenges, the designers were able to create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Their efforts were recognized when Flowing was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and Flowing certainly fits the bill.
